Grandma Le and Grandpa Dave at Alco/Baseball/Park

We had a GREAT day today with Grandpa and Grandma! We went to Alco to look for a few things, and before I knew it, there were a few people sitting on the ground trying out the toys!
All three on the floor!

This afternoon we went down to Gibbon to watch Dad's team play more games. Grandma and Grandpa went with us, and we had fun playing with Grandpa's hat! (Remember the 4th of July??)

After we got tired of watching the games, we walked to the other side of the park and got onto the swing! Alex's first time swinging! Here is a video and a few snapshots of my ornery boy going on the swing!

Look! No hands!!

ORNERY grin!!!!

After the swing, we decided to try the slide. Grandpa held on the whole time, and Alex tried to stand up mid-slide. It was a fun time once we got the hang of it.

Wheeee!!!!
Once we were done with the slide, we decided to walk in the sand....NEW TEXTURE EXPERIENCE!!! At first Alex hated the feel of sand on his feet, as he held one foot up to try to keep all of the sand off of it. It was really funny!

We did walk over to the steering wheel and played with that for a while.

Then we decided to make sand angels. What fun!!

Alex had a TON of sand in just about every crease in his body. We washed most of the sand off, which was cold, and was able to brush more of it off later. We got home late, so we'll take a bath tomorrow and see just how much more sand we can find! Remember, a baby that is clean at the end of the day hasn't learned a thing.....I HAVE to keep telling myself that!!

Alex vs. Squiggles - Round 1

As you can tell from the title, Alex decided to go after his nemesis, Squiggles the cat this morning. (FYI for those of you that don't know - she is de-clawed, or else I would have been watching this much more carefully without the camera!) She casually walked across the living room floor, as she does most mornings.....but this morning was different. Alex watched her strut by, as he usually does, but then he decided to follow her. He crawled after her all the way back into our bedroom, Squiggles watching carefully all of the way.

Alex got fairly close to her quite a few times, and then Squiggles would hiss and arch her back. Alex didn't seem to care that the hiss meant "stay away," instead he would do his own version of a hiss at her.

Once Alex had Squiggles successfully cornered in the bedroom, he sat down to catch his breath. Squiggles, again, casually strutted by, and then jumped up onto the bed. You'd think that she'd learn her lesson, but after all, she is a cat!

We've been telling the cat for 8 months now that Alex is going to get her one day, and today I think that she finally began to believe us.

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July to everyone! We hope that all had a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Alex wants to wish all of you a Happy 4th, also! Here is his outfit for today...it was almost black by the end of the day - one of the last times I will dress my little boy in white! (Note to self!) Also notice his very first tattoo - he was a crawling commercial for Windstream telephones....

We spent the day in Seward - finally! We have had plans to go there every year, and something always comes up. This year we made it. My parents, Grandma Le and Grandpa Dave met us there, and we had a great day walking around, eating funnel cakes, and seeing all of the crafters selling their items around the square. We had a great day. One of Alex's favorite things to do was to grab at other people's hats - here is a picture of Grandpa Dave wearing Alex's hat as Alex plays with Grandpa's. I'll admit, one of them looks a little silly... :)

During the parade, Alex had fun sitting in the shade and playing with most of his toys. Here's a picture of him playing....

Again, we wish everyone a Happy 4th - talk to you soon!

Crabby Day Again!

Today was another crabby day, but a bit better than yesterday. Alexander slept a little better last night, only getting up twice (it's easy to get spoiled when they are sleeping through the night!).

Alex's nose is still running like a fountain. He screams every time that I begin to come at him with a Kleenex. Towards the early afternoon, he caught on that he could try to "run away" from me - in an effort to delay the nose cleaning a little longer. I snapped a picture of him crawling away from me.....silly guy!

On the way home from baseball practice tonight, Alex fell asleep in the car - HARD! Waking up from the car ride was not a happy experience - as you can see from the picture!

Tomorrow we will be going to Seward for the 4th. We have always wanted to go, and had plans to, but at the last minute something has always come up. This year we are going to do it!! We hope to have some great pictures from Alex's first 4th. My parents (Dave and Le) are going to be meeting us there and coming back to Ord for a few days. See you tomorrow! :)

Day at home (finally!)

Today Alexander and I spent the entire day at home - there were so many things to be done! Alex really enjoyed his newfound freedom, and spent the day exploring everything except the living room. He spent quite a bit of time in front of his bedroom door, leaning back so the door would hit against the wall, and then lean forward, only to repeat this another 200 or so times. I snatched a picture of him doing this, as it was just so funny to see him do this again and again and again!! (Sorry about the weird shadow, I didn't notice it until this evening). I think that Alex is beginning to cut a tooth. Although I haven't felt anything, he spent the better part of today crying, and his sleep has been very irregular the past week or so. Finally at about noon I broke down and gave him some Tylenol, and this seemed to make his mood a little better. He's not running a temp, however, his nose is running like a fountain! (Any of you experienced parents out there, if you think this may be something else, please let me know!) :)

Please comment, we love to read what others have to say about our little online venture! :) Thanks!

CRAWLING!!!!

Yes, as the title says, our little man is now mobile! But first, what happened the rest of our day....

Grandma and Grandpa Bowin left a little after Noon to head back home, and the three of us left to go to the TBS boys' last home game. Before they left, we snapped a few shots to show off to everyone on here....

And we were off to the game. Alexander slept through the entire first game, he was SOOO tired from the busy weekend! Once he woke up and ate, he played with some water in the tray of his stroller. He loves the water - as long as it doesn't get on his face!!

Then we headed back home. And snapped this video - - we just can't believe how quickly he figured out how he can move to where he wants to go! Now we'll find out just how "un-baby-proofed" we really are! (Don't mind my voice in the video - just turn the volume down) :)

Alexander then took himself into the bathroom, to play with the drawer and the doorstop - two of his favorite things! Here he is playing with the doorstop, and getting a little frustrated that it keeps moving on him!!! :)

Bowin Grandparents and Ice Cream!

Aunt Sarah left today (boo-hoo), but Grandma and Grandpa Bowin are out here for the weekend visiting. We started out bright and early this morning, and caught a picture of Dad and Alexander having a little bit of fun together (they ALWAYS have fun together - I just never seem to get it all on camera!) Here they are at Kohl's - one of my FAVORITE stores!! (I have to keep my Mom in business!!!) :)

After our visit to Kohl's, we decided we needed to get some ice cream. Good thing that there was a Cold Stone across the parking lot. I've been getting a lot of grief, from what seems like everyone, that Alexander hasn't had much "big people" food yet - so he tried a little bit of ice cream! He wasn't too sure about it at first, but he did take a few bites. (This is Grandpa Bowin holding Alex while I fed him a little bite) After the ice cream, we were on our way back home. Alex was EXHAUSTED!!! He slept all the way home....such a tired boy!

Baseball Games!

We headed to Sargent tonight for Dad's game against Broken Bow. It was a double header, therefore making it a LATE night for all of us. While we were there, Alex was thoroughly passed around to just about everyone there. Here's a picture of Alex and Jo. Jo is one of Andy's co-workers, and her son plays for Andy. (Plus she is a great friend to chat with during the games!) Alex just loved playing with the pop bottles - he loves the tops of them!

Grandma and Grandpa Bowin came out for the weekend - we'll get pictures of Alex and them on tomorrow's posting.

New Shoes

We went to Broken Bow today because Daddy had a meeting and we needed to pick him up. While we were there, and Dad was in his meeting, Alex and the girls decided to go shopping. We found some shoes for Alex! We sat in the park for a while waiting for Dad to be done, and decided to try on the shoes.

Alex wasn't too sure about Aunt Sarah putting them on.... But once they were on, they looked absolutely adorable!!

However, Alexander had a different idea for the shoes....

He didn't like the feel of the grass on his feet, so once he had this shoe off, he decided it was better if he held his leg up off of the ground. (Note the picture below) Too funny! What a guy! :)

Third haircut and Aunt Sarah

Aunt Sarah is here for a visit! Alexander is enjoying having someone new to play with, and I am enjoying having someone to have a real conversation with! We are all busy with Andy's baseball "stuff" - tonight it was off to Stromsburg for a tournament seeding meeting.

Aunt Sarah took a nap with Alexander, as we knew that it would be a late night.

Because Sarah is a master at just about everything, I enlisted her help for Alex's THIRD haircut (yes, third!) He has a full head of hair, and it just keeps growing! Look at how handsome he is! Where has my little boy gone???

Well, I hope that you will enjoy our blog - I am new at this, but I think that it will be a great way to keep friends and family up to date on what's going on in central Nebraska! Please comment, we love to hear from you! (Thanks, Claudia, for recommending this!!)
